India's e-Visa still cannot be used at land borders
The e-Tourist Visa is valid only at around thirty designated airports and a handful of seaports. Travellers crossing overland from Nepal or elsewhere need a conventional paper visa applied for at a mission. The e-Visa is also non-extendable and non-convertible once issued.
